it all started in Bordeaux
Meritage (pronounced like heritage), a combination of Merit and Heritage, is a registered trademark in the United States, our version of a Bordeaux from France. A red blend that must be made from, at least two ,of the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, St. Macaire, Gros Verdot, or Carmenère, with no variety comprising more than 90 percent of the blend.
Thomas Great is named after the Pub in Colchester England called Thomas Great Tavern. Its succulent fruits, rich tannins and juicy acidity are in perfect harmony. This wine is generous, rich and complex. For a pairing, think meat; lamb, aged beef and stews, but let’s not forget fish, not with lemon sauce, but with mushrooms, tomato, veal stock or a red wine reduction. However, you couldn’t go wrong with a Sirloin beef burger smothered with creamy peanut butter, caramelized onions and sautéed jalapeños! Try it!
